Winston Smith is what we like to refer to as a living legend. He is one of the main innovators of the rock poster movement and has pretty much helped create the definitive punk rock aesthetic. Using an x-acto knife with a sharp wit he creates surreal collage landscapes that are technically sophisticated and politcally charged. His work has been exhibited all over the world and in numerous publications. "Idol" was first used as a cover for the 1981 Dead Kennedy's album "In God We Trust Inc." Which was banned in England and denounced by numerous religious organizations. We think that is quite an accomplishment.
